The American Center's mission is to educate the Azerbaijan public about the United States of America and to increase mutual understanding between the United States of America and Azerbaijan. It consists of a library that also serves as a venue for conversation groups, presentations, exhibitions, lectures, movie nights and receptions.

The American Center offers books in the following subject areas: American Studies, languages and rhetoric; history, geography, social sciences, natural sciences and mathematics; applied sciences, computer science, literature, art, philosophy, psychology; and religion. Periodicals
The American Center maintains several dozen subscriptions to periodicals, including The Economist, National Geographic, Newsweek, Forbes, The New Yorker, Foreign Affairs, Times, U.S. News, Business week, PC magazine, the daily International Herald Tribune, The New York Review and numerous local English language newspapers. The American Center offers access to many online and reference tools, including advanced research services, such as EBSCO Databases and OCLC First Search. The American Center offers access to CD-ROMs that offer information on U.S. policies, society, and culture. Video collection
The American Center owns a collection of videos on U.S. History and Government; Society and Values; U.S. and Global Economy; U.S. Art and Culture and Diplomacy and National Security. Regular screenings take place every Friday and special screenings can be arranged upon request. TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, SAT, LSAT test preparation material - COMING SOON
